YWCA of the Harbor Area and South Bay

The mission of the YWCA Harbor Area and South Bay is to foster the economic self-sufficiency and emotional and physical well-being of women and girls in a world of peace, racial justice, dignity, freedom, and equality for all.

Info
In order to promote the well being of women in its immediate community, the YWCA offers child care, women’s health services, family services such as employment counseling, teen programs and racial justice.

YWCA has empowered women, families and teenagers in various ways to invest in their ability to
produce change within their own families and communities.

They offer support in the different sectors of:

  • YWCA Early Childhood Development Center
Parents can focus on working while their child is taken care of at the development center.
  • Encore + Program allows women ages 40 and above to be tested for mammograms, most of the
recipients now are between the ages of 50-60 and cannot afford insurance or qualify for Medi-Cal.
  • YWCA Teen Girls helps to enrich the lives of young teenage girls by providing leadership opportunities, tutoring and life skills.
  • YWCA Family Services programs continue to support the community through its efforts with programs such as the Cradle Closet, which gives diapers, wipes, and other basic infant necessities to families in need.
