The publication based in Norwalk won the award for General Excellence for the fifth consecutive year.

El Clasificado has managed again to be one of the highlights of the Association of Free Community Papers (AFCP) as the company took home a total of eight awards. The weekly publication, with the largest distribution nationally in the Latino market, was awarded five first-place prizes at the ceremony held in Savannah, Georgia (from April 9 to 11), including the award for General Excellence that highlights the print and digital work of the company located in Norwalk.

This is the fifth time such a distinction has been made for El Clasificado, an achievement that was accompanied by awards in the categories of Best Classified Layout, Best Sales Presentation, Best Online Presentation of Classified Ads, and Self Promotion Classifieds.

“We are delighted and proud of the AFCP awards because they demonstrate that we remain committed to the printed universe that has brought, and will continue bringing us so much success. At the same time, we are also focused on our increased options for advertisers in the digital world, which we consider to be a continued strength in the future,” said Martha de la Torre, co-founder of El Clasificado.

In addition to the top prizes, El Clasificado also placed second in the category of Best Web Innovation with “Mis Anuncios,” a digital platform that helps advertisers manage their online classifieds with renewal, editing, and cancellation capabilities. Two third-place awards were also bestowed upon the Hispanic media company for Community Service Editorial and Self Promotion.

Highlighting “the amount of content that is well organized and extremely easy to handle” when the judges selected the best website in the presentation of classified ads, they also noted the printed publication as having “an easy to read layout, pretty colors, and a great job integrating display ads with classifieds.”

This maintained success marks continued improvements for a company with over 170 employees and over $20 million in revenue, and that will be soon celebrating its 27th anniversary. Let’s keep achieving greater progress in the future.

El Clasificado has also been recognized as a “Minority Champion of the Year” by the Small Business Administration (SBA) in 2015 and “Best Classified Website” by Editor & Publisher. Also, Martha de la Torre and Joe Bademe, Founders of El Clasificado, have been a three-time finalists of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. Take a look at El Clasificado’s list of awards here!
