The publication proves print still matters—when it’s rooted in community, editorial purpose, and reader trust
Los Angeles County, CA — January 2026 — VÍVELA, the free monthly Spanish-language print magazine published by El Clasificado dba EC Hispanic Media, is celebrating its first anniversary this January with a significant milestone: a current monthly circulation of 100,000 copies across Southern California.
Launched in January 2025, VÍVELA was created as an editorial-driven magazine designed to be read—not skimmed. Its mission is to deliver meaningful, practical, and culturally relevant content to Latino communities at a time when access to trusted information matters more than ever.
The publication was born to fill a clear gap in Southern California’s Spanish-language media landscape: the disappearance of free, high-quality magazines focused on service journalism and storytelling. Rather than reshaping an established product, EC Hispanic Media made a deliberate decision to launch VÍVELA as a distinct, complementary brand to El Clasificado—one centered on lifestyle, community issues, and editorial depth.
From the outset, VÍVELA was designed for today’s readers and advertisers seeking a premium print environment built on credibility, substance, and relevance—content that goes beyond listings and advertisements.
The magazine debuted with an initial distribution of 40,000 copies in the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles. Strong reader pickup and advertiser performance quickly fueled expansion. Within months, circulation grew to 100,000 monthly copies, now evenly distributed across South Central Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley, Orange County, the Inland Empire, and the Downey–Norwalk area. Strategic placement in high-traffic Latino neighborhoods—through street racks and wire stands—has ensured consistent visibility and strong engagement.
“This milestone shows how eager our community is for positive, uplifting content that truly reflects who they are,” said Martha de la Torre, founder and CEO of El Clasificado and publisher of VÍVELA. “We’re proud to bring this experience to even more readers across Southern California.”
VÍVELA’s growth also reflects a broader shift in media consumption, where print and digital platforms function as complementary—not competing—channels. While digital media dominate immediacy and reach, print continues to offer a focused, trusted format for engagement.
Advertisers are seeing results. Helio Alfaro, an associate at Los Angeles–based law firm Abogados Hispanos, shared:
“I had moved away from print advertising and was focusing exclusively on online marketing, but after learning about VÍVELA, I decided to advertise the firm. Since then, we’ve received consistent calls and have been able to close cases.”
The experience underscores how print placements, when paired with the right editorial environment, can remain an effective part of a modern marketing strategy.
Over the past year, EC Hispanic Media also conducted reader surveys across ElClasificado.com and its weekly print audience to better understand what Latino readers are actively seeking—and what they feel is missing. The results helped shape VÍVELA’s editorial direction. Topics such as immigration, health, careers, legal guidance, and practical life information consistently ranked as top priorities.
That insight proved especially critical in 2025, a year marked by heightened immigration enforcement and widespread uncertainty across Latino communities. As misinformation spread rapidly on social platforms, VÍVELA committed to providing verified, responsible coverage—publishing immigration-related content sourced exclusively from California Bar–licensed attorneys and established legal nonprofits.
In print, readers found clarity without noise, urgency without panic, and information they could trust.
One year in, VÍVELA’s success reinforces a simple truth: when print listens first, it still leads.
