A Magical Party for 10 Quinceañeras in the Foster Care System

Quinceanera.com and the Los Angeles County Department of Social and Family Services joined together to give 10 deserving girls a complete Quince party

Ten girls from the foster care system were able to enjoy a Quinceañera celebration in style—with surprise artists, dancing, doll delivery and even a special message from Kate del Castillo, the Mexican actress protagonist of “La Reina Del Sur.”

The celebratory event, organized for the fifth consecutive year by Quinceanera.com and the Department of Social and Family Services of Los Angeles County, was made possible by the collaboration of more sponsors than ever—48 in total—who participated in the cause to make 10 girls happy who otherwise would not have the resources to celebrate such a party.

“We are extremely grateful to the sponsors and proud to have been able to celebrate this party for the fifth consecutive year for the girls of the foster care system,” said Martha de la Torre, co-founder of El Clasificado, parent company of Quinceanera.com. “It is essential to raise awareness about the need to find foster parents for children in need of a home. We hope that the awareness of this event will help generate that attention.”

The event was emceed by Jessica Maldonado, Telemundo reporter for “Al Rojo Vivo”, and by Freddy Rivera, star announcer of iHeart Radio. Both presented the two guest artists, Victoria La Mala, who sang a new single, and Mexican artist Brian Muñoz II. Both La Mala and Muñoz delighted guests and made the quinceañeras dance with their music during much of the party. Live music was spun by two great DJs, Johanna “2Lips” Martínez and DJ Libra.

Lucy Luna, from Luna’s Dresses, donated 10 dresses, makeup, tiaras, accessories and dolls for the ceremony held at L.A. Celebrations Banquet Hall in Los Angeles.

Cuban bakery Porto’s gave a breakfast for 50 people while the girls put on makeup and prepared for the party.

Entertainment during the cocktail reception was provided by Mariachi Sol de Veracruz, which enlivened the venue while people had drinks and appetizers in the garden area, before the celebration of the festivities began.

Sponsors also included Marissa’s Cakes for the tiered cake and desserts, floral decorations by Casa Blanca Floral Designs, and jewelry valued at $1,000 for each girl by Don Roberto Jewelers. Dee Lee Designs, an expert in organizing weddings and quinceañeras, donated a throne and a photobooth for the girls, in addition to ensuring the participation of more than 10 sponsors.
