Los Angeles, CA – The Su Socio de Negocios Business Expo welcomed more than 300 attendees, including established entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners eager to find the tools, resources, and connections needed to start or grow their businesses. Originally launched in 2006 by El Clasificado dba EC Hispanic Media, the Expo was created to help Latino entrepreneurs bring their business ideas to life. Despite facing challenges such as language barriers, limited access to capital, and navigating complex regulations, Latino-owned businesses have shown remarkable growth. “In California, there are more than 815,000 Hispanic-owned businesses, creating more than 500,000 jobs,” according to the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce (CAHCC). “These businesses contribute more than $100 billion in annual revenue to the state’s economy.

The event featured business workshops presented entirely in Spanish, covering topics like AI chatbots, video marketing, and a session led by a representative from the California Department of General Services. After a round of networking, a panel featuring Martha de la Torre (El Clasificado), Betty Porto (Porto’s Bakery), and David Dubon (Bravo Foods USA Inc.) shared honest and inspiring stories about their entrepreneurial journeys and answered audience questions. The panel was moderated by Claudia Shah from the Small Business Development Center. “I wasn’t aware of this event until this year!” said Olivia Ordaz, owner of Livi’s Party Design. “The amount of valuable information, the personal stories, and the networking opportunities were truly inspiring and motivating.”

This year’s Expo also marked the 37th anniversary of El Clasificado magazine, celebrated on May 5. In recognition of this milestone, El Clasificado received multiple certificates of recognition honoring its longstanding service to local commerce and its impact on the Latino community. Awards were presented on behalf of Senator Bob J. Archuleta (30th Senate District), Assemblywoman Blanca Pacheco (64th District), Norwalk Mayor Tony Ayala, and Tony Chi-Su Gutierrez, President of Megamix Expo. “We’re honored to receive these recognitions,” said Martha de la Torre, CEO of El Clasificado. “Thank you to our dedicated employees and the Latino communities we serve—your support and hard work are the reason behind our continued success.”

The next Su Socio de Negocios Expo will take place on September 24th at the Norwalk Arts and Sports Complex, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The event will once again bring together small business owners, service providers, and centers that provide free or low-cost assistance to small business owners —all offering guidance and support in Spanish.
