Of the 1,015 adults surveyed in a recent Pew Research Center study, only 1 percent of participants viewed social media to be a reliable source of news and information regarding local business. In a time when social media continues to gain prominence in marketers’ media mix, these findings bring to question the influence and importance of social media as a source of news and information on local businesses.
