El Clasificado’s English language shopper will surpass a circulation of 285,000 copies when distribution in East Los Angeles, Commerce, and Huntington Park begins in August

Los Angeles, July 6th, 2016 – One year ago, a void was created in Los Angeles between advertisers and clients when the Pennysaver abruptly ceased operations. Seeing an opportunity to bridge this gap, customers of the former English language shopper asked Martha de la Torre, Co-founder of EC Hispanic Media, to create an English version of El Clasificado, which lead to the launch of EC Classifieds on July 1, 2015.

Now, celebrating its first anniversary, the English-language publication, has continued to find success. Weekly circulation has increased from 95,000 copies to 235,000 after requests for more coverage led to four unplanned expansions in Los Angeles, Kern, Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties, and most recently Santa Clarita, Antelope Valley, and the South Bay.

Still fielding more requests for additional growth, 40,000 more copies will reach areas in, and around, Commerce, East Los Angeles, Bell, Bell Gardens, Huntington Park and South Gate beginning this August.

“A year ago I did not expect EC Classifieds to enter areas like East LA and Huntington Park. When we first launched El Clasificado there in 1988, only Spanish was spoken in the streets and stores” stated Martha de la Torre. “Now, the new generation is bilingual or simply prefers to communicate only in English. With EC Classifieds and El Clasificado we can reach the entire Hispanic community as well as Millennials, African-Americans, Caucasians, and Asian-Americans.”

In total, the English shopper will have a presence in more than 190 cities in Southern and Central California with over 10,500 distribution points, offering solutions for advertisers of all sizes in categories such as Rentals, Garage Sales, Home Services, Jobs, and more.

“Our distribution system is one of the main reasons for our success,” said Joe Badame, Co-Founder of EC Hispanic Media. “During this first year, we have been able to place the new English publication in the right targeted areas, allowing readers to easily find us and look for the deals and offers they need, and we will continue to do so.”

“While EC Classifieds projects $2 million in revenues for 2016, our growth in print has not been our only success story. Our digital presence and new media offerings continue to expand as we gain valuable data from EC Hispanic Media’s total distribution network of 23,000 drops. Our combined efforts at these locations through increased online engagement opportunities, beacons, and pickup rate data creates a powerful synergy between print and online products, a capability we plan to optimize exponentially,” declared de la Torre.

Adding to the online portfolio, ECClassifieds.com is the newest addition to the 33 million monthly page views generated by the conglomerate, which includes the brands: Quinceanera.com, Al Borde, Mas Clientes, Su Socio de Negocios and its flagship publication, El Clasificado. EC Classifieds and El Clasificado have a combined circulation of more than 745,000 weekly copies. By 2017, EC Classifieds is expected to be at 500,000 weekly audited circulation.
