Pablo Scarpellini, Senior Editor of EC Hispanic Media, reviewed the epic 2014 Emmy Awards and Sofia Vergara’s controversial move in an interview conducted by Juan Carlos Arciniegas and Mariela Encarnación, hosts of CNN Showbiz TV show.
Los Angeles – August 27, 2014
Our very own Pablo Scarpellini, Senior Editor for EC Hispanic Media, was interviewed by CNN en Español on Tuesday August 26, looking over all the memorable moments of the Annual Emmy Awards 2014 held at the Nokia Theatre and aired live on August 25th, 2014.
The interview, by Juan Carlos Arciniegas and Mariela Encarnación, both producer movie critics for Showbiz CNN Español, discussed all the main talking points of the night, including Billy Crystal’s emotional tribute to his late friend Robin Williams and how moving this was. They went on to talk about the big winner of the night, Breaking Bad, who came away with 5 awards in total, including outstanding drama series for a second year running.
Another big winner of the night was Modern Family who came away with a record-breaking fifth Emmy for outstanding comedy series. The Colombian Actress and businesswoman, Sofia Vergara, who plays Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the award-winning series, has caused quite a stir for other reasons after her supposedly ‘sexist’ skit from Monday night. Vergara was put on a pedestal to be admired for her beauty while television Academy chairman, Bruce Rosenblum, gave his speech.
The interviews also discussed this jovial skit, which has caused uproar on social media. Pablo defended Vergara, who has been heavily criticised for doing this. He saw it as it was intended, a harmless comedy sketch that was not meant to offend anyone.
