One year prior to the April 1, 2020 Census Day, the U.S. Census Bureau and El Clasificado announced their partnership in preparation for the 2020 U.S. Census to help raise awareness and promote census participation within the Hispanic community across the U.S.

El Clasificado will be helping the Census Bureau distribute tools and information through its weekly print magazine, direct mail English print shopper EC Classifieds (which is delivered through the U.S. Postal Service), and its variety of online properties targeted to Hispanic business owners, families and teens including elclasificado.com, quinceanera.com, and susociodenegocios.com. The EC Hispanic Media network has over 2 million monthly online visitors per month, 500,000 social media followers, a hyper-local segmented email database of over 200,000 and weekly print circulation of over 500,000 reaching over 60 distinct Latino regions in California from Fresno down to the Mexican border.

“We are excited to be a part of the 2020 Census Partnership Program. Through our print, online marketplaces, social media communities and expos we will have many opportunities to help educate Latino audiences in both English and Spanish on why it is important to be counted in the census. The census is less than two years away but it’s never too soon to prepare our communities for this great opportunity to grow the voice of all Latinos living in the U.S.,” stated Martha de la Torre, CEO and Co-Founder of El Clasificado.

The Census Bureau’s national partnership program has over 257,000 participating partners including Fortune 500 companies, churches, chambers of commerce and governments.

“The Census Bureau is thrilled to partner with El Clasificado and we are looking forward to working together. Our partners serve as key census ambassadors, helping to raise awareness of the decennial census within their communities and encourage self-response. Our partners are critical to a successful 2020 Census,” says Ron Jarmin, Census Bureau Deputy Director and COO, Performing the Nonexclusive Functions and Duties of the Director.

The census is conducted every 10 years and is used for state and local redistricting, as well as determining congressional representation.

Respondents in the 2020 Census will be able to choose online and telephone response in addition to the traditional paper response. Respondent information is kept confidential by law and the data is used by governments, businesses and civic organizations to make key decisions.
