This Honor Coincides with El Clasificado’s Celebration of their 25 Years Serving the Latino Community

Los Angeles, CA, May 15, 2013 – Martha de la Torre and Joe Badame, founders of El Clasificado, the largest free Spanish-language publication in the nation, are once again finalists in the distinguished Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2013 program for the Greater Los Angeles region. This award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

What began as a small publication in East Los Angeles 25 years ago to serve the needs of the Latino community has grown into a successful company with a weekly circulation of 510,000 magazines and 1.5 million readers from Central Valley to San Diego and now parts of Arizona. As the publication’s distribution grew, so did El Clasificado, becoming a dynamic media group that, under the name EC Hispanic Media, provides engaging web and mobile sites, events, and custom publications targeting various segments of the emerging Hispanic market and boasting revenues in excess of 20 million.

For Martha de la Torre being recognized among the best entrepreneurs in Los Angeles is an honor by itself. “We had a remarkable year and are proud of our growth. We launched our mobile site last October and since then the page views of have increased by more than 5,000,000 per month, helping to further our stance as a leading portal connecting Hispanic buyers with sellers of different products and services. We could not have accomplished this without the help and support of our advertisers, readers, and employees so this nomination is a tribute to everyone that has helped make El Clasificado a total success.”

Sharing the same excitement, COO and Co-founder Joe Badame said, “Our print products continue to grow despite a decline in the printing industry as a whole. We have faced many challenges throughout our 25 year history but have adapted to ensure we put out a publication that provides the Hispanic community with timely and relevant content to help improve their lives. Our success and passion for the product has motivated us to grow nationally into other key Hispanic markets where a service like ours is needed.”

Winners of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2013 contest will be announced at a special gala on Tuesday, June 18th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.
