El Clasificado’s social media strategy was honored alongside some of the top media organizations across the country at the Local Media Association’s Digital Innovation Awards in Chicago on April 22nd.

Impressed judges from Arizona State University’s Cronkite School of Journalism awarded the company second place in the “Best Social Media Strategy” category for outlets with under 750,000 unique visitors.

Frank Zepeda, El Clasificado’s Director of Marketing, received the award on behalf of El Clasificado at the LMA Digital Revenue Summit red carpet event held for award winners at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare.

“El Clasificado is honored to once again share the awards stage with our LMA peers. LMA’s Innovation Summit is a vital part for the growth of traditional media companies,” Zepeda said about the awards event.

Winning the award for the company, El Clasificado’s Quinceanera.com brand utilized an array of marketing strategies including a proprietary local influencer marketing network, co-branded content with national sponsors, and paid 15 second video ads across Facebook and Instagram, which saw campaigns reach $0.01 engagement levels.

The company presented examples of both organic and paid social media content and statistics in its presentation for the LMA judges.

This year’s social media strategy was sponsored by Social News Desk and recognized “the most successful and creative plans when it comes to leveraging social media to expand audience and heighten engagement.”

The contest is the only of its kind—in which newspapers, TV stations, radio stations, and digital news sites compete for the trophy in a variety of categories.

ASU’s Frank Mungeam, who helped judge the contest, stated “the LMA award winners demonstrate a wide range of innovation – from storytelling to new formats and platforms, to new revenue models. An inspiring roadmap for the future of news!”

El Clasificado has been attending the Local Media Association’s Digital Revenue Summit for three years.
