Los Angeles, CA –February 15, 2006– El Clasificado, the nation’s largest free weekly classified Spanish-language publication, hosted its first, one-of-a-kind educational networking event, Su Socio de Negocios on February 8 in Montebello, CA.  The seminar, intended to provide micro businesses catering to the Hispanic community with important, business-related tools, was the first of a four-part series that will be offered throughout the year, and was attended by more than 300 people.

Microbusiness owners from the Greater Los Angeles area, a majority of them of Hispanic descent and Spanish-speakers, benefited from the presentations that covered such topics as healthcare for small businesses, telecommunications, payroll, choosing a business entity and marketing principles.  Most importantly, the presentations were offered in Spanish, a novelty among similar networking events that truly set this seminar apart.

Exhibitors and attendees alike were enthusiastic about the size and quality of the event.  “Su Socio de Negocios is truly a forum that lends a helping hand to [small businesses] that are looking to reach the top but are uncertain of how to get there,” said Cecilia Borraez, Owner of Seminars in Spanish.  EVOS Consulting’s CEO Julian Ortiz agreed, “Su Socio de Negocios is a refreshing new entrant in a field that craves for practical and actionable solutions.  I eagerly look forward to the next of what will likely become a ‘must attend’ event series for small businesses throughout the Los Angeles area.”

Besides serving an educational purpose, Su Socio de Negocios offered an energetic environment ideal for networking, which was set by live music, free food and beverages, and numerous raffles.  Event participants entered to win a laptop, digital camera, ipod and free hour-long business consulting sessions from EVOS Consulting.

El Clasificado’s second seminar themed “Using Technology for Small Businesses” is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, June 7th, 2006 at the Glendale Civic Auditorium and is already shaping up to be a landmark event.  More than 400 small business owners are expected for this seminar.

“Su Socio de Negocios” featured expert panelists from Blue Cross, Merrill & Associates, Intuit Payroll Services, Freeman, Freeman & Smiley Law Firm and Crest Creative Strategies, all of whom provided for the event participants valuable insights pertaining to their respective fields. EVOS Consulting, Web Enterprises, Inc., CHARO, Geiger, Seminars in Spanish, Los Angeles Minority Business Opportunity Committee, Al Borde and El Clasificado were Participating Sponsors for this event.
