Los Angeles, CA — March 10, 2010 — El Tax Man CEO, Carlos Salazar, shared his expertise with dozens of Latino small business owners who came with pens, paper and tax documents in hand to El Clasificado’s recent “Su Socio de Negocios” free small business tax workshop and tutorial. Salazar, whose experience helping Spanish speaking micro entrepreneurs with small business tax issues spans over fifteen years, provided strategic tax advice on business structure options, deductions and write-offs, and record keeping and audits.
Although beneficial, the numerous changes to the tax code make income tax filing for small businesses a daunting task. Luis Fuentes, owner of Fuentes Construction in Los Angeles, attended last week’s “Su Socio de Negocios” event hoping to maximize his income tax refund by identifying any and all credits for which his firm qualifies. “Finding this up-to-date information in Spanish can be a challenge,” stated the micro-entrepreneur. “But because the economy has essentially paralyzed real estate and construction enterprises, I came here to learn how to make the most of my return, or at least avoid paying so much.”
A sizable crowd of Hispanic small business owners listened attentively to the presentation and immediately afterward, formed a line in the hopes of securing a private, one-on-one consultation with the tax expert for their unique cases. Questions included social security related problems, a lapse in filing income taxes that extended several years.
Hosted at the El Clasificado headquarters in Los Angeles, CA last Wednesday, February 24, the “Su Socio de Negocios” small business breakfast event officially kicked off El Clasificado’s 2010 event series, which includes a total of four small business breakfasts and one business expo designed for the Los Angeles Spanish speaking micro-entrepreneurial community. The next event will focus on the most effective computer programs for small businesses, and will take place on April 21, 2010.
Event sponsors included H&R Block, Wells Fargo, and Verizon Wireless.
The Su Socio de Negocios event series was established in 2006 by El Clasificado, a leading interactive media/advertising company that has connected buyers and sellers in the Hispanic marketplace since 1988. The award winning weekly classified shopper is read by over 1.5 million Latinos throughout Southern California and receives close to 3 million page views each month through ElClasificado.com.
