LOS ANGELES, August 31, 2010 — Inc. magazine ranked El Clasificado No. 3405, reaching a stunning #41 amongst media industry peers, on the fourth annual Inc. 5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent-minded entrepreneurs. Music website Pandora, convenience store chain 7-Eleven, Brooklyn Brewery, and Radio Flyer, maker of the iconic children’s red wagon, are among the prominent brands featured on this year’s list.
“The leaders of the companies on this year’s Inc. 5000 have figured out how to grow their businesses during the longest recession since the Great Depression,” said Inc. president Bob LaPointe. “The 2010 Inc. 5000 showcases a particularly hardy group of entrepreneurs.”
El Clasificado is a Hispanic multiplatform media company that provides a marketplace for Spanish-speaking Latinos in grassroots communities. El Clasificado’s contributions to the community and entrepreneurial spirit have also been recognized by organizations such as the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) and by The Los Angeles Business Journal. Most recently, El Clasificado was included, for the sixth consecutive year, in the Hispanic Business 500 List of the Largest U.S. Hispanic-Owned Companies.
This year’s honor marks the fourth time El Clasificado has received this accolade. “As the Hispanic market grows in numbers and migrates online, we continue to find new ways to serve Latinos in grassroots communities with the products and services they want and need through a variety of accessible platforms, including print, internet, smart phones, Facebook and community expos” said Martha de la Torre, CEO and founder of El Clasificado. “Despite the slow economy, the Hispanic market is resourceful and resilient enabling us to continue to expand geographically, launch new products, and create new job opportunities in traditional as well as emerging digital and social media.”
The Inc.’s 5000 2010 list recognizes El Clasificado’s compounded annual growth rate of 54% over a three year period which ranks the company as the #41 in its industry. “We continue to grow our print circulation contrary to industry trends and in the wake of a sluggish economy. The increase in circulation was planned and consistent with a growing customer base that finds our print products an effective and economic way to connect buyers and sellers in the Hispanic market.” stated Joe Badame, COO and Co-Founder of El Clasificado.
This year’s Inc. 5000 employ a record 1.4 million people, up from one million on last year’s list. With unemployment remaining stubbornly high, policymakers and business leaders will do well to look to the Inc. 5000 companies for fresh ideas on achieving growth and creating jobs.
