El Clasificado Donates Gifts to Door of Faith Orphanage, Edward B Cole Academy

El Clasificado, the parent company of EC Hispanic Media and the largest online classifieds site in Spanish in the U.S., helped realize the holiday spirit for hundreds of children alongside community partners the Door of Faith Orphanage in Baja California, Mexico, and Templo Calvario Edward B Cole Academy in Santa Ana, Calif.

 

Employees of El Clasificado donated 130 wrapped gifts to children from Door of Faith Orphanage and Templo Calvario‘s Templo Calvario CDC’s charter school. this past December.

 

Days before the Christmas holiday, a group of El Clasificado employees drove down to Chula Vista to present the gifts to members of the Door of Faith Orphanage who then delivered the gifts across the border.

“Thank you for partnering with us in this! It makes us so happy when people love our kids,” Heidi Landes from the Door of Faith Orphanage said in an e-mail.

 

This is the third year El Clasificado has partnered with Door of Faith Orphanage in this gift-giving event.

 

Each year, employees choose which Door of Faith child they would like to sponsor and receive a photo of the child along with shoe and clothing sizes. Some of the employees at El Clasificado keep the photos of the children at their desk all year long.

 

In addition, it was El Clasificado’s first year partnering with Templo Calvario and the Edward B Cole Academy in Santa Ana.

80 students from Door of Faith Orphanage and 50 students from Edward B Cole Academy were adopted by El Clasificado employees.

 

“It’s so important for all of us to remember to be grateful and appreciative for all that we have.  It’s easy to complain about what we are lacking in our lives.  When we partner with these organizations, we have an opportunity to realize that we have so much to be grateful for.  We can change the world for the better— one child at a time,” Tom Lockyer, El Clasificado’s Senior Manager of Human Resources, said.

 

The gift donations to Door of Faith and Edward B Cole Academy was one of El Clasificado’s recent acts of philanthropy in the community. Earlier in December, the company also helped host a Quinceañera for a CHOC Children’s Hospital patient before her surgery.
