The 2020 CHOC Children’s Latino Advisory Council stands in the offices of the CHOC Children’s Foundation.

NORWALK, Calif., February 24, 2020 – El Clasificado, the largest online classifieds website in Spanish in the U.S., recently joined the Latino Advisory Council of CHOC Children’s, a pediatric healthcare system based in Orange, Calif.

The CHOC Children’s Latino Advisory Council is made up of Latino and Latina CEOs, presidents, vice presidents and directors from companies such as Univision, Northgate Markets, North American Staffing Group and more.

Marketing director Frank Zepeda, who is the company representative on the council, has been helping to form a collaborative community partnership with CHOC Children’s.

“I’m honored to be part of the Latino Advisory Board. CHOC has truly been a visionary organization when it comes to the role of Latino inclusion. My son was a patient at CHOC and I am forever grateful for their work. I look forward to strengthening the partnership with El Clasificado and CHOC,” Zepeda said.

The goals of the CHOC Children’s Latino Advisory Council include integrating with the community and addressing challenges such as education, social services, illness prevention and school wellness within the Latino community.

El Clasificado’s company mission has long related to assisting Latinos in these same areas—empowering them to access educational opportunities, health providers and social services in their native language.

“Our community has an opportunity to support CHOC’s mission to nurture, advance and protect the health and well-being of children throughout Orange County and beyond. With over 50% of our patient population identifying as Latino, we are deeply committed to helping these children thrive,” said Patty Covarrubias, director of business development, CHOC Children’s Foundation. “Our Latino Advisory Council is an important team that engages, informs and builds partnerships between CHOC and the Latino community. The council plans to identify key health initiatives that impact our community while helping to drive support for those causes. Our council is also here to help unite the larger community under a shared passion for keeping kids healthy,” Covarrubias added.

Before joining the council, El Clasificado’s Quinceanera.com brand helped CHOC in hosting a surprise Quinceañera party for one of the hospital’s patients complete with a sparkling Quince dress courtesy of Santa Ana-based boutique Decoradisimo, an acoustic musical performance and gifts courtesy of some of Quinceanera.com’s sponsors.

This council appointment has furthered El Clasificado’s involvement with helping Latinos in Orange County receive the care and information they need in a context and language they feel comfortable in and understand.

In addition to the CHOC Children’s Latino Advisory Council, El Clasificado is also proud to be a member of the Cerritos College Campaign Leadership Committee and the Local Media Association Chief Diversity Club Meeting.
