El Clasificado Receives “Large Business of the Year” Recognition

The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, February 4 at the Bakersfield Marriott Hotel.

 

January 27, 2012- “We are in Bakersfield to win, create jobs and to stay for the long haul,” proclaimed Arturo Casas, Central Valley Regional Sales Manager, during the Hispanic media company’s ribbon cutting ceremony last June.

Six months later, the Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is recognizing El Clasificado as “Large Business of the Year” for its contribution to the community. “These honorees are the cream of the crop,” said Jay Tamsi, CEO and President of the Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “They strive for excellence in everything they do, and it’s exceptional to know that their colleagues saw their accomplishments and nominated them for the awards.”

The recognition will be awarded during the 27th annual Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Installation of Board Members and Business Awards. “El Clasificado has been distributed in Bakersfield for about three years already,” said Casas. “This recognition solidifies that we are on the right path.”

Other honorees include:

• Business Man of the Year Award: Joe Cornejo, Advanced Beverage

• Woman of the Year: Dr. Rebecca Rivera, Bakersfield Center for Women’s Health and GLOW and Linn

• Small Business of the Year: Jacalito Mexican Grill

• Corporation of the Year: Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center

• Community Service Award: Audrey Chavez, Bakersfield AIDS Project

• Nonprofit Organization of the Year: African American Network of Kern County (Dee Slade)

• Chair Recognition: Shirley Franco, Anthem Blue Cross

The new 2012 Board Members of Kern County Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will be installed by Kern County Superior Court Judge, the Honorable Robert Tafoya.

The new board will include David Alanis, Blodgie Rodriguez, Olivia Garcia, Denise Ornelas, Carlos Navarro, Risto Rubio, Ernie Pineda, Ricardo Montiel, Sal Brito, Jose Guerrero, Nick Ortiz, Ida Tagliente, Valerie Mendiburu, Dave Whisler, Joe Serrano, Donna Hollingsworth, Shirley Franco and Donna Hermann.
