Mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, joined the Su Socio de Negocios seminar as the guest of honor giving the closing remarks and empowering Latino entrepreneurs.
El Clasificado has been reaching out to Hispanics for the past 26 years, connecting buyers and sellers through their highly successful print magazine that reaches 1.5 million readers each week. This time, the multi-brand media company has gone from strength to strength by introducing brands such as Su Socio de Negocios, which aims to support and educate small business owners both online and through a number of highly successful events. An initiative that was born after Martha de la Torre saw her clients thrive to learn and succeed as Hispanic entrepreneurs.
Since then, The CEO and co-founder of El Clasificado and Su Socio de Negocios, has been greatly involved in providing services to support the Hispanic population over this time. So much so, that last week, she was awarded the Latina Business Woman of the Year award by the California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
On August 20th 2014, Su Socio de Negocios hosted one of the most successful event so far at the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office headquarters with the Mayor himself, Eric Garcetti, as the guest of honor. Hundreds of Hispanic entrepreneurs attended the event on ‘How to Build a Wildly Successful Business’, where a panel of experts from prestigious business organizations addressed opportunities for Latino entrepreneurs to kick-start the growth of their businesses with services and resources that are completely free fro them.
The panel included Frank Aguirre, Business Development Specialist for the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office of Economic Development, Claudia Shah, Consultant at the Santa Monica Small Business Development Center, Henry Leyva, Representative of Kiva Crowdfunding, Natalie Orta, from the LA District U.S. Small Business Administration, and Allie Sanchez, from the Harbor Business Source Center. In addition, Edgar Munoz, host of Noticiero Telemundo 52, joined the panel moderating the conversation and contributing to this cause of educating small business owners.
The Su Socio de Negocios Hispanic business seminar was set in motion with welcome remarks from Martha de la Torre. As an entrepreneur herself, de la Torre has experienced and overcome many of the difficulties that running a business can bring. The guest of honour and Mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, ended the event with the closing speech. The Spanish speaking leader has a close relationship with the Hispanic community of Los Angeles so it was a huge privilege to have him not only attend, but also provide the closing words for this successful event.
Su Socio de Negocios event celebrated the exciting partnership between El Clasificado and the Mayor’s Office, an alliance that will see a more projected outreach to the Hispanic community. Martha de la Torre and Eric Garcetti are both very passionate about providing Latinos with support, motivation, and the right resources, so that small business owners can continue to be one of the main economic drivers of the nation.
