Job Fair hosted by El Clasificado and EmpleosLatino in Cerritos College exceeds expectations

(Los Angeles Aug. 31, 2022) — Hundreds of people attended the job fair organized by El Clasificado and its affiliate, EmpleosLatino.com, where a variety of job openings were offered, including office, sales, customer service, warehouse, retail, and truck drivers. In partnership with Cerritos College in Norwalk, adult education classes and entrepreneurship training were also provided for those in attendance.

“I didn’t think I would find a job so quickly,” said Ivana Medina after touring the different stands at the fair. “I was also able to enroll in one of the Cerritos College classes. I will take the English one and do some equivalencies, since I am an electrical engineer, the college is going to help me with that. It was a very good experience. I give them a 5 out of 5.”

“I came to this fair with high expectations because I resigned from my job yesterday and I left with excellent job options,” said Ronald Ordóñez. “I was able to apply to more than five companies and I also recommended three of my friends to come and get a job. It is a great initiative from El Clasificado.”

The job fair was attended by employers such as Macy’s, Orkin, LaborNow employment agency and Fairway Staffing. Several expressed their satisfaction with the assistance in an increasingly demanding job market.

“The fair went well for us,” said Ericka Olmedo, director at Hogar Mex, a company that sells high-quality kitchen utensils. “We met a specific candidate at 10:30 in the morning and he was at our office ready to interview by noon that same day.”

Stephanie Buenrostro, from CSS Employment Group, Inc, highlighted the “success” of the fair. “We have been able to help people find a job. We have over 50 applications from people who have come. It has been a success for us. We highly recommend this Job Fair.”

Regarding adult education, Joe Curiel, a professor at Cerritos College, was on hand to showcase the free classes the college offers to students. “We look for individuals who are not necessarily interested in a higher degree, but who want to go back to school,” he explains. “Anyone who is 18 years old qualifies, with the advantage that classes are both in English and Spanish, ranging from citizenship classes to learning English or training for entrepreneurs.”

Apart from the success of connecting employers with employees, Cerritos College had a great turnout with close to 80 students interested in the programs offered by the Adult Education and Diversity Programs. Cerritos College faculty, Daryabuth Martinez, added “Many of my students are happy they are now employed because of the success of this Job Fair.”

After receiving great feedback, El Clasificado will now be hosting a second Job Fair to help secure employment in preparation for the seasonal jobs needed during the holidays. The event will take place at Cerritos College on September 29th, 2022, from 9am to 1pm.
