EC Classifieds Relaunches on Third Year Anniversary as a Direct Mail Shopper

The English-language weekly shopper, owned by El Clasificado, will strategically select and mail to 110,000 homes in the greater Los Angeles Metropolitan Region.

May 31, 2018 Los Angeles. After three years of success as a demand drop shopper serving communities in the LA Metro left vacant by the absence of the Pennysaver, EC Classifieds, a shopper specializing in jobs, autos, rentals, and home services, will convert to a direct mail publication and take advantage of the U.S. Post Office EDDM affordable targeted advertising program. The Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) program has a mapping tool, enabling EC Classifieds to be selective and strategic in selecting homes in carrier routes by audience, household size and income that matches buyers and sellers efficiently and cost effectively.

EC Classifieds will be directly mailed to 110,000 targeted homes that match the best possible customers for EC Classifieds’ current advertisers. It will arrive on June 6, 2018 in the regions of Los Angeles, Orange County, Inland Empire and Antelope Valley.

“With the new US Post Office mapping tool, we were able take our current distribution, geographically match it to zip codes and carrier routes, and then select the types of households and incomes that match the shopper persona most sought after by our current advertisers. Although the cost of direct mail compared to demand street rack distribution is significantly higher, our ability to pick and choose carrier routes helps us map out our distribution with laser precision to increase the value of advertising dollars spent by our clients,” states Liliana Zambrano, Chief Revenue Officer of EC Classifieds.

“As indicated from our active contest participation and engaged readers, there is still a large audience in Southern California that loves print. EC Classifieds was not part of our long-term plan in 2015. However, our El Clasificado customers asked us to launch an English publication to fill the void of the Pennysaver. We tried it, and here we are three years later, happy to make the additional investment to convert EC Classifieds to a direct mail publication. If readership demand continues to grow, we’ll be happy to expand into more cities. With the EDDM mapping system, we can easily create direct mail products anywhere in the U.S.,” says Martha de la Torre, CEO of El Clasificado.

Cities reached on the initial relaunch of EC Classifieds will include Anaheim, Santa Ana, Van Nuys, Palmdale, Lancaster, Torrance, Long Beach, Montebello, West Covina, Ontario, San Bernardino and Riverside.
