El Clasificado and Its Sister Publication, Al Borde, Receive a Total of 19 Awards at the NAHP's XVII Convention

Los Angeles, CA – March 25, 2002 – From March 13 through March 16, the city of Dallas, TX, hosted the 17th Annual National Association of Hispanic Publication Convention. During its famous Hispanic Print Media Festival El Clasificado won 6 awards and its sister publication, Al Borde, won another 13.

For three years in a row El Clasificado, one of the nation’s largest free Spanish weekly publications, has won First Place for “Outstanding Classified Section”. It aslo received top honors for “Outstanding Single Sales Sheet” and “Outstanding Circulation Program,” won second place for “Outstanding Web Site” and “Percentage Increase in Ad Dollars During 2001”, and received an Honorable Mention for its Media Kit.

Al Borde, a publication focused on Latin alternative rock and pop music, collected a total of 13 awards including three first place awards for “Outstanding Design – Tabloid Format,” “Outstanding Inside Design Spread,” and “Outstanding Editorial Cartoon,” seven second place awards in the categories of Editorial, Photo & Cartoon, Design and marketing, and three Honorable Mentions.

Martha C. de la Torre, CEO of both publications, was very satisfied with the outcome: “despite the difficult situation of the economy, our publications managed to maintain their growth rate thanks to the efforts of all employees, with whom I would like to share these awards.”

Al Borde merged with El Clasificado on October 2001, becoming the perfect alliance to reach the Hispanic market in Southern California.

El Clasificado is a free weekly publication which blends classifed advertising with consumer friendly editorial. Its 120,000 weekly issues reach the Hispanic market throughout Los Angeles County and Orange counties , and the Inland Empire.

Al Borde is a free bi-weekly publication focusing on Latin alternative rock and pop music. Al Borde is the only Latin alternative music publication with a verified circulation of 30,000 copies distributed nationally, covering mainly Los Angeles, Orange County, and the Inland Empire.
