Los Angeles, CA –June 30, 2009– Seemingly unfazed by the current economic recession, more than 2,000 Hispanics from across the Southland crowded the DoubleTree Hotel in Commerce, CA last month to be a part of El Clasificado’s Quinceañera Expo and Fashion Show, an event with a four-year tradition of connecting service providers with Hispanic consumers planning their daughter’s fifteenth birthday celebration.

Four hundred 13-15-year-old Latinas were among those in attendance at the Expo, searching for fresh and exciting ideas to make their Quinceañera celebration memorable.
“We wanted to connect Hispanic families with the right service providers that can help them create the perfect moment in their daughter’s lives,” said El Clasificado Publisher and CEO Martha de la Torre. “Before we established our Quinceanera event series in 2006, it was virtually impossible for local families to find all of the Quince services they needed in one convenient place, so we are happy to serve as the major Los Angeles area outlet to do so.”

Derived from the Spanish word for fifteen, a Quinceañera is an important cultural marker among Hispanics across the Americas. The milestone traditionally features a highly symbolic mass ritual, which is later followed by a grand celebration, similar to a debutante ball. In the US, where Latino families have more economic flexibility than their counterparts in other Latin American countries, the Quince celebrations tend to be much more lavish and with price tags to match.

Held on Sunday, May 31st, El Clasificado’s Quinceañera Expo and Fashion Show consisted of 50 exhibitor booths, a fashion show, live musical performances, and a special Quinceañera supplement created specifically for this event. Proving that there is indeed a (large) market for this demographic, the Expo was sponsored by Verizon Wireless, David’s Bridal, Jarritos, The Aquarium of the Pacific, and NYX Cosmetics. El Clasificado’s next Quinceanera Expo will take place on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at the Heritage Museum of Orange County, in Santa Ana, CA.

The event is presented by El Clasificado, a multi-media print, online and grassroots event marketing solutions company that connects buyers and sellers in the Hispanic community through its handful of niche-oriented websites. A verified publication with a weekly circulation of over 360,000, El Clasificado print reaches more than 1 million Latinos and is distributed in nearly 200 cities in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura and San Diego Counties.
