September 8, 2008 – Los Angeles, CA – On September 17, 2008, amidst the myriad celebrations in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, El Clasificado is set to penetrate two Southern California counties whose Latino populations have experienced a booming growth in recent years as it inaugurates two new zones in San Diego and Ventura Counties. The expansion will bring El Clasificado’s zone count to 24, and its circulation to an astonishing 360,000, continuing to buck the pervasive trend of circulation declines for print periodicals nationwide.
Although ad revenues for print publications have been in steady decline, falling 7.9% in 2007 alone according to the New York Times to make it the second-worst year in more than half a century, El Clasificado’s revenues have increased 130% during the past five years. The growth has prompted such organizations as Hispanic Business, Inc Magazine, and the Los Angeles Business Journal to name El Clasificado one of the fastest-growing companies in Los Angeles and nationwide.
“We are excited about this geographic expansion into a different market, and to be expanding beyond our local base,” commented El Clasificado COO and co-founder Joe Badame. “The publication contains inspiring editorials, we produce free, informative community events regularly, and the fact that the publication is community targeted into zones is what drives results especially for local advertisers. We are happy to provide Latino residents in the Counties of San Diego and Ventura, El Clasificado, a community publication that has successfully served Los Angeles Latinos for more than 20 years.”
In the past ten years, San Diego County’s Latino population rose almost 50%, continuing a decades-long trend fueled by steady immigration and high birth rates, according to the Census. In Ventura County, Latinos made up as much as 88% of the county’s population growth during the late 1990’s. With the recent expansion, El Clasificado will reach roughly 90,000 readers in the cities of San Diego, Chula Vista, National City, Escondido, Imperial Beach, El Cajon and others in San Diego County, and in the cities of Oxnard, Santa Paula, Ventura, Camarillo and more in Ventura County.
El Clasificado is a multi-media print, online and grassroots event marketing solutions company connecting buyers and sellers in the Hispanic community since 1988. El Clasificado is the weekly source of information for more than 1 million Latinos on everything from health and education to consumer alerts and real estate. El Clasificado is a verified publication with a weekly circulation of over 360,000, and is distributed in more than 200 cities in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and now Ventura and San Diego Counties.
