Hundreds Attend Al Borde “Acoustic Sessions” concert

Los Angeles, CA– August 7, 2007 –Los Angeles-based Latin Alternative entertainment publication Al Borde hosted its third “Acoustic Sessions” concert this year on Friday, July 27, an intimate gathering which featured a remarkable acoustic performance by female pop-punk group Go Betty Go.

A couple hundred young, trend-setting Rock en Español fans gathered at the ultra hip Al Borde Lounge to listen to four hours of non-stop punk and Latin Alternative rock by featured artist Go Betty Go, and Tijuana’s very own Ceci Bastida, who was joined onstage by the “Acoustic Sessions” inaugurating group Volumen Cero.

The performance was unique for pop-punk princesses Go Betty Go, who pulled off an impeccable live acoustic set – a first for the group! This special performance was a smash hit thanks to both the strong vocals delivered by Go Betty Go’s new vocalist Emily Wynne-Hughes and the band’s remarkable synergy as a whole.

Opening for Go Betty Go at Friday’s “Acoustic Sessions” concert was Ceci Bastida, who was joined onstage by Spanish Rock icons Volumen Cero, and who boasts of an impressive background in the Spanish Alternative rock scene. Bastida joined one of Mexico’s most important ska-punk bands of the 1990’s Tijuana NO at the age of 15, before joining Julieta Venegas as a backup vocalist and is now embarking on a career as a soloist.

“We had very high expectations about the success of our Acoustic Sessions, but the actual response we’ve received so far is phenomenal,” remarked Melvin Ortiz, Creative Marketing Manager of Al Borde. “We are certainly keeping fans of Latin Alternative rock satiated by offering a number of private concerts where they’re able to connect up close and personal with their favorite artists.”

In addition to the musical performances, the event consisted of an exclusive art showcase by renowned Chicano pop artist Gustavo Muñiz, who debuted his latest collection of heart prints in a special exhibition in the 2nd level of the Al Borde Lounge. Also in the Upstairs Lounge section was a lively dance floor featuring DJ Santi’s excellent mashups of the most groundbreaking Latin Alternative beats.

Exclusive event sponsors Jack Daniels and Monster Beverage Company also joined Al Borde for the second and third consecutive event, respectively, and provided the evening’s refreshments. The Ford Amphitheatre signed on as sponsors for the July 27 “Acoustic Sessions” concert as well. The next Al Borde “Acoustic Sessions” performance is set to take place on December 7th and is tentatively scheduled to host Enjambre.

The Al Borde “Acoustic Sessions” is a series of 4 private Latin Alternative rock concerts presented by Al Borde. Each concert hosts between 150 – 200 young, bilingual and bicultural trend-setting fans of Latin Alternative rock and entertainment for an intimate musical performance given by their favorite rock groups.
