HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ATTEND THE EL CLASIFICADO AND EMPLEOSLATINO.COM JOB FAIR

The free event, held at the Mt. San Antonio College, was attended by brands such as Disney, Double Tree, King Taco, Orkin and Molly Maid

Los Angeles. May 5, 2023. More than 200 people gathered at the job fair organized by El Clasificado and EmpleosLatino.com at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California, with the presence of companies like Disneyland Resort, Double Tree by Hilton, King Taco, Orkin, and Molly Maid. The fair, free to the public and aimed towards the Hispanic community, featured a wide variety of job openings available for medical assistants, drivers, restaurant employees, and construction workers, among others. The fair coincides with the 35th anniversary of El Clasificado, three and a half decades of connecting buyers and sellers in thriving Hispanic communities.

Norma Ramírez, from Pomona, left with 3 “very interesting” options for future employment. “Thanks to El Clasificado for this job fair because it is a good option for the community,” Ramirez said after exploring the options at the different booths.

Alexis Pérez Ramírez has only been in the United States for three days, having arrived from Mazatlán, Mexico, and he’s already dreaming of a job as a driver, in the maintenance fieldor in a restaurant. “I’m quickly going to get a job,” he shared confidently. “I found out about this job fair through the social media channels of El Clasificado and I left with high job expectations.”

Blanca Martínez, 41, wants to return to work as soon as possible. She is a beautician by profession, “but in the United States you need the degree, and I haven’t been able to get it, so I came to this job fair to find the means to support my family”. Martínez has two disabled children and a baby. She also lost her husband during the pandemic. She has worked doing everything, from cooking to babysitting, and she dreams of finding something that will help provide for herself and her family. “I hope I can find something interesting.”

Diversity was one of the main factors cited by the companies to be present at the fair. “Diversity in the workplace is very important to us, not just because we need a lot of options and different perspectives, but to create a good working atmosphere,” said Kyle Calioung, a recruiter for Orkin Pest Control. “That is why it is very important for us to partner with El Clasificado so that we can achieve the reach that we want with the Hispanic community”.

Ángel Montes, director of talent acquisition at OC Vibe Sports, confirmed that “this is our first time at the job fair and we are happy to be able to start this alliance with job applicants. Hopefully it will be a long-term journey”. More than 25 companies were present at the event.

Mt. San Antonio, one of the top community colleges in southern California, was not only the venue for the fair, but it also offered courses for adults such as citizenship, English or GED classes, and professional development.
