The first round of Al Borde’s free concert series featured the craft of groundbreaking all-male local talent with the best in the areas of music, spin, art and fashion

Los Angeles, CA –July 12, 2010Al Borde’s Acoustic Sessions made El Gallo Plaza in East Los Angeles the place to be on Friday, June 25. In the first round of the 2010 concert series, dozens of attendees enjoyed a free night of male-fronted music, dancing to the roaring tunes of three of Los Angeles’ most popular all-male Latin alternative bands and relishing in the work of local male artists, fashion designers and DJ mixes.

Fulfilling their duty as headliners of the evening was experimental rock band, Fitter who, with their fusion of aggressive guitar riffs and lyrics of political consciousness, builds on the evening’s praise of art and dance. Music seekers also grooved to the repertoire of NoWayJose and Ratasan’s rockabilly and Spanish-sung aggressive rock set, while devotees of conceptual art admired the all-male art show that was curated by noted artist and muralist Steven “Chatismo” Amado.

Praising itself as one of the few platforms that offers exposure to new and established Latin Alternative acts, Al Borde’s musical line-up for the evening was of no exception. “Fitter, No Way Jose and Ratasan all represent the different stages of local talent,” states Ricardo Perez, Creative Supervisor for Al Borde and talent booker for the Acoustic Sessions. “Fitter is an established band that has toured both locally and outside of the country, and that subconsciously forces people to groove to their psychedelic reggae. No Way Jose is a band that draws more following with every gig that they play, and they also go on record as the first rockabilly band to take part of the showcase, and Ratasan is fronted by Hector Torres, one of the best emerging and true-hearted songwriters that the local scene has seen in a very long time.”

Along with the bands’ gift of music, fashionistas in the crowd were surprised with an impromptu fashion show for NaCo Clothing’s World Cup-inspired collection, giving them a sneak peak into the limited edition line. Modeling the soccer themed jerseys, track jackets and tees were members of Al Borde’s very own staff who got into the fashion-runway spirit with the help of DJ Cheebo’s cumbia electro son mix.

Highlighting an all-female showcase, the second Al Borde Acoustic Sessions on the 2010 itinerary is marked for Friday, July 23rd at El Gallo Plaza in East Los Angeles. The free concert will feature the musical talent of singer/songwriters Pilar Diaz of Los Abandoned fame and Carla Morrison who is quickly marking her territory on the female-led indie scene and being praised by established Latin Alternative powerhouses Julieta Venegas, Natalia Lafourcade and Ely Guerra.

“Al Borde’s Acoustic Sessions” is a series of free intimate concerts presented by Al Borde, a premier Latin alternative media outlet reaching the 18- to 34-year-old Hispanic demographic. Al Borde is owned and published by the Spanish-language weekly El Clasificado – a Hispanic Business 100 multimedia company – and is rapidly becoming a leading Latin Alternative multiplatform company that offers advertising opportunities through sponsored events, section sponsorships, street team promotions, web sites, and mobile services.
