The American Diabetes Association honored the Hispanic multimedia company for its commitment in the fight to stop diabetes
December 17, 2015 – Every year hundreds of volunteers help the American Diabetes Association (ADA) in the fight against diabetes, a chronic disease that affects nearly 30 million people in the United States. To commemorate their efforts and dedication in the Los Angeles area, the nonprofit organization hosted their annual Volunteer Recognition Reception on Dec. 3, 2015 at The Valley Hunt Club in Pasadena.
In the ceremony, El Clasificado, which is part of EC Hispanic Media, took home the Media Partner of the Year award, an honor that recognizes the company’s seven years of devoted support to the ADA for increasing awareness of this disease through media coverage and fundraising efforts. During which time, the multimedia company has managed to raise more than $50,000 for the ADA and sponsored dozens of bikers for the Tour de Cure, which is held in the city of Long Beach.
“We’re proud to receive this award from an organization that fights against one of the most dangerous diseases in the United States. With our dedication to the Hispanic community, we are hopeful that the funds we have raised for the American Diabetes Association can help lower the incidence of this condition, which affects nearly 2 million Latinos in the United States,” said Joe Badame, co-founder and COO of EC Hispanic Media. “Next year, we’re planning to participate with our largest amount of riders and to raise even more money.”
Julian Dillon, Director of Special Events for the ADA, showed his appreciation by recognizing “all of our volunteers and friends in the business community such as El Clasificado. With all the events that we do, Tour de Cure in particular, we hope to continue raising awareness about a disease that affects 1 in 7 Californians.”
The Tour de Cure will be held on May 1st, 2016, in Long Beach. As a yearly tradition, it encourages cyclists of all levels to try their best in riding different routes. (Join EC Hispanic Media’s fight against diabetes here!)
